Step-by-Step Guide to Taking a Project or Exercise Exam
To complete an exam you must have Microsoft Office 2016 and the SNAP Player installed on your computer.
On your course assignments page select a Project or Exercise exam.
When the exam page opens, select the "New attempt" button.
Your exam will launch automatically after a 5 second delay.
When your exam opens you will see the first step problem statement in the upper left of the page. You will be making multiple changes to one Office file, one step at a time. When you have completed the changes in the Office file called for in a given step, click the Next Step button and make the changes called for in that step. Complete each step before advancing to the next.
When you have reached the last step and have finished making changes to the Office file, select the Check Answer button. Notice that the Check Answer button is not enabled until you reach the last step of the exam.
If your changes are correct, the SNAP Player will display the Correct message at the top of the page, and then return to your assignment review page.
If your changes are incorrect, the SNAP Player will display an Incorrect! statement.
In the review document displayed, SNAP lists what mistakes you made and, where appropriate, locates where in the document your mistakes were made.
During the check answer process, SNAP will display a completion status. SNAP is inserting feedback into a separate review document. This process takes a few seconds to complete.
This is a review document, not the document on which you made changes. You cannot make changes to the review document.
If you have attempts remaining for this exam, you have three options: Reset, Return, Finished.
Reset - Selecting Reset opens the document as it was before you made any changes. You can start over, make all the needed changes, and then select Check Answer.
Return - Selecting Return reopens the document with the changes you made to it before you selected Check Answer. You can correct your mistakes and then select Check Answer.
Finished - Selecting Finished abandons your attempt and returns to your assignment review page. Your work will be saved and scored. Your final grade for the exam is from the last attempt.
If you do not have attempts remaining for the item, SNAP will remove the Reset and Return buttons and display the Finish button. Selecting the Finish button will close the attempts for this exam and return to the assignment review page.
The control box (upper right) provides the following information:
Attempts Remaining – Number of attempts left for the current exam
Time Remaining – Time remaining for the entire exam
Steps Remaining – Number of steps remaining in the exam
Check Answer – Button that checks the document for mistakes
< > - Arrows with which you can move to the previous or next step, your work is saved
Select More dialog box launcher – Opens the More dialog box
The More dialog box provides navigation using the following:
<> - Select these buttons to move to the previous or next step, your work on the current item is saved.
View All Steps – Selecting this button opens a list of all the Steps in the exam, and allows you to jump to a particular Step.
View Detailed Instructions – If activated by your instructor, selecting this button displays methods by which you can successfully complete the exam.
Reset To Original File – selecting this button opens the exam's document as it was before you made any changes, abandons the changes you made, but does not remove your attempt.
When you have completed all of the exam, SNAP will automatically return to your course. You will see a exam results page showing your score for each step, including feedback if the step was incorrect.
SNAP Projects and Exercises are similar exams. They both provide a single Office document that requires many changes. Projects are designed to cover a large section or chapter of course content. Exercises have fewer steps and are aligned to a smaller section of course content.
