Step-by-Step Guide to Taking a Skill Check Exam Using SNAP Connect
To complete a SNAP Skill Check exam you must have Microsoft Office 2016 and the SNAP Player installed on your computer. Your browser MUST have popup blocker turn OFF for the website https://connect.snap2016.com.
If this is your first time taking an exam, click here for Getting Started instructions.
Depending on your browser, you will have the option to select Run or Exam.
Select the Launch button.
Your exam opens to the first Skill Check item. The exam will have many Skill Check items. Review the problem statement (upper left), and then make the required changes to the Office document (bottom).
When you have finished making the changes, select the Check Answer button.
If your changes are correct, the SNAP Player will display the Correct message at the top of the page, and then move to the next Skill Check item.
If your changes are incorrect, the SNAP Player will display an Incorrect! statement.
During the check answer process, SNAP will display a completion status. SNAP is inserting feedback into a separate review document. This process takes a few seconds to complete.
In the review document displayed, SNAP lists what mistakes you made and, where appropriate, placed in the document where your mistakes were made. This is a review document, not the document on which you made changes. You cannot make changes to the review document.
If you have attempts remaining for this item, you have three options: Reset, Return, Skip.
1. Reset—Selecting Reset opens the item’s document as it was before you made any changes. You can start over, make all the needed changes, and then select Check Answer.
2. Return—Selecting Return reopens the item’s document with the changes you made to it before you click Check Answer. You can correct your mistakes and then select Check Answer.
3. Skip—Selecting Skip abandons your attempt and advances you to the next Skill Check item. When all of the remaining items have been scored, SNAP will return you to any skipped items and allow you to continue attempting to complete them.
If you do not have attempts remaining for the item, SNAP will display the Finish button instead of the Skip button. Selecting the Finish button will close the attempts for this item and advance to the next item.
The control box (upper right) provides the following information:
Attempts Remaining – Number of attempts left for the current item
Time Remaining – Time remaining for the entire exam
Skills Remaining – Number of skills remaining in the exam for which you still have attempts
Check Answer – Button that checks the current skill item for mistakes
< > - Arrows with which you can move to the previous or next item, abandoning your work on the current item
Select More dialog box launcher – Opens the More dialog box
The More dialog box provides navigation using the following:
<> - Select these buttons to move to the previous or next item, abandoning your attempt on the current item.
View All Skills – Selecting this button opens a list of all the Skill Check items in the exam, and allows you to jump to a particular item.
View Detailed Instructions – If activated by your instructor, selecting this button displays methods by which you can successfully complete the item.
Reset Current Skill – selecting this button opens the item’s document as it was before you made any changes, abandons the changes you made, but does not remove your attempt.
When you have completed all of the exam items, SNAP will automatically return to your course. You will see a exam results page showing your score for each item, including feedback if the item was incorrect.
